Emraan Hashmi rode high on the super-success of his first ever horror
film Raaz 2 and proved his mettle in bollywood. He was accused of
making his films successful by his kiss scenes but in the former he
did not even had a leading lady opposite film. Now, moving ahead with
work, he is now busy with three of his films. Among these only one is
with his favourite banner Vishesh films and two are with others.

One is a film with Soha Ali Khan opposite Emraan Khan called “Tum
Mile,” that is directed by Kunal Deshmukh and it is a Vishesh Films
and Sony BMG production. A few scenes of the film have been shot in
Cape Town and the story of the film is based on the calamity of Mumbai
floods in 2006.

Another is Once Upon A Time In Mumbai where he plays Dawood Ibrahim
(underworld don). The film, co-produced by Suniel Shetty’s Popcorn
Entertainment and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, will also highlight
the emergence of organised crime in the city. The film will portray a
period in Mumbai when the city first saw what organised crime was and
the extent of violence it can cause,” says Milan. “Our film is based
on what the city went through in that period, how suddenly the
gangsters ruled the streets and people were terrified. Though it is a
gangster movie, it will also show the contemporary cabaret culture of
the city. The film is inspired from what happened in the 70s and so
since these men belonged to that era instances may be similar but the
characters are not essaying them ditto.

The third flick is Raftaar 24 x 7.Starring Neha Dhupia and Sagarika
Ghatge and directed by Shamim Desai. this film is yet not revealed
much on story front.

Emraan had a Chaotic B’day

Emraan Hashmi

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who celebrated his birthday shooting for his upcoming film Tum Mile, rather , did not celebrated at all, had a choatic B’day on March 23rd. He even fractured his finger on the big day.

But there was a touching gift to mention too. And that was a long, touching SMS from uncle Mahesh Bhatt .”For this birthday, I got a long touching SMS from Bhatt Saab.” He said Mahesh Bhatt likes to receive gifts even on his nephew’s birthday instead of giving gifts.

The story goes like this, Emraan narrated, “On my 30th birthday on Tuesday. I called Bhatt Saab to ask what he’s giving me. He turned around and made me gift him books. He makes me do that quite often. The only thing is he doesn’t call it gifts. He calls it ‘guru-dakshina’ (offering to teacher). In fact after every hit film he takes a cheque from me. And every couple of months I give him money to buy books.”

“I’m finally a true-blue member of the cast,” said Emraan Hashmi jokingly looking at the plaster cast on his finger. Shooting scenes in torrential rain for Kunal Deshmukh’s Tum Mile, Emraan broke his finger. This is the second time he injured himself during this film’s shoot. Earlier, he had injured his eyes. But he needs time for it to heal as the unit is shooting under several feets of water. The scenes are a recreation of the torrential rains of July 26, 2005. And the on-camera deluge has been created in no ordinary studio.

The location of shoot is scrap-metal factory in Mulund which has been filled up with water. It started with ankle-deep water. Now it’s knee-deep. Now the water has gone up to the waist and stomach. Since no studio could give a floor large enough to submerge cars in rain
water , this place was rented. Soha , the female lead of the film who is much shorter just keeps her head popping out of the water.

Wading through stagnant water for almost a month has taken its toll on Emran and Soha’s skin. There’re two recycling plants installed. But they haven’t helped much. And on top of that we’ve cars underwater which we bump into regularly. Director Kunal Deshmukh should be happy he’s got two cooperative actors. We don’t demand mineral water instead of rain water to sink
into.

“Me and Soha Ali Khan have been literally shooting 16-18 hours a day. I couldn’t even attend the birthday calls. When I went back home I saw more bouquets than I had ever seen in my life. Quite a change from how it used to be when I had debacles.”

“The shooting went way beyond what we expected. So by the time I reached home we couldn’t really go out. My wife and I just had a quiet
dinner.”

“My birthday was chaotic,” emran signed off.

Emraan Hashmi as an ‘Underworld Don’

Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi turned 30 on his B’day that was on 23rd March this week. This year he also enters bollywoods 30 plus brigade stars. While, riding high on the success of his movie Raaz-The Mystery Continues, Emraan still has lot of quality work in his kitty.

He is currently shooting for his next movie Once Upon A Time In Mumbai that is a Balaji Telefilm’s venture alongside Prachi Desai, Kangana Ranaut and Ajay Devgan. The film is said to be based on yesteryear’s underworld don Haji Mustan’s life.

It was in Murder, that Emraan first really drew our attention with his sizzling hot scenes with Mallika Sherawat. It had a first-rate plot too and was in many ways under-rated on its release. Other interesting movies have included the gripping Gangster, his first movie with Kangana Ranaut, The Killer with Irrfan Khan and Nisha Kothari, Good Boy Bad Boy with Isha Sharvani and Tanushree Dutta, and the excellent Jannat with Sonal Chauhan.

Emraan is finishing off his love story with Soha Ali Khan. Called Tum Mile, the movie is being shot in an old factory in Mulund in extensive stagnant flood water. Both actors have been vaccinated against disease but even so conditions are tough and Emraan has already suffered some accidents. “While filming an underwater sequence, he injured his right eye,” says director Kunal Deshmukh , “And while filming another scene, he ran into a wooden plank and hurt himself. But half an hour later, he was back on his feet, ready to shoot.”Prachi Desai is also doing a role in this movie.

Emraan Hashmi has his way

Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi is flying high and how. The success of solo-hero starrers, Jannat (2008) and Raaz – The Mystery Continues (2009), has ensured Emraan such a standing in the film industry that his demands are met, despite the presence of an established star.

For Ekta Kapoor’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, where he plays the role of the young don Dawood Ibrahim , he has laid down a condition in his contract, that he should be given as lengthy a role and equal publicity as his co-star Ajay Devgan, who plays Haji Mastan in the film. A source close to the production house said, “Emraan’s uncles, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, were not in favour of him doing Ekta’s film as they feared that he might end up playing second fiddle to an established actor like Ajay Devgan.

However, Emraan loved the script and was very confident about his role. The film’s story revolves around how Haji Mastan passes the mantle to a young and emerging don Dawood. Nevertheless, in order to ensure that everything that was promised to him will be delivered, he laid down a condition in the contract saying that he should be given equal prominence as Ajay Devgan in terms of footage and publicity.”

Confirming the news about the contract, Emraan Hashmi says, “Well, it’s true. The film is based on the shift of power from Ajay Devgan to me. Obviously, I don’t do films for the love of anyone or to be just another name in the credits. It is the central character besides Ajay’s character in the film.”

Emraan’s hidden agenda

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai will be shot at CST station in the day with hidden cameras. Emraan will participate. Milan Luthria and Ekta Kapoor are set to start shooting their ambitious venture, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. The film, starring Ajay Devgan and Emraan Hashmi, will be shot on real locations including at Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus (CST) with hidden cameras.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai

Our source said, “Emraan Hashmi is playing a young don from South Mumbai. His character is based on Dawood Ibrahim in his early days. Emraan’s character is very uncooked and he has been asked to get a slant body. His entry sequence sets the tone of his character in the film. Milan has decided to shoot the sequence, a chase, at CST with Emraan and a local goon. During the sequence, Emraan’s shirt also gets torn and that’s why Milan wants him to have a lean body. The ADs will also have hidden cameras so that they can capture Emraan and the public, unaware.”

Milan confirmed the news and said, “Emraan is my cousin and we have been planning to work together for some time now. This is the ideal role for him.” Speaking about the sequence, the director said, “It will be one of the highlights of the film and will be shot discreetly at the railway station with the crowd. I don’t want to give away everything but we will have hidden cameras all over to make the scene look as authentic as possible.”

Emraan Hashmi in Pakistan

It doesn’t take much brain racking to guess what, caught Emraan Hashmi’s eye on his trip to Pakistan. Emraan Hashmi was in Lahore to attend the premiere of his latest film Jannat which is set to release simultaneously in Pakistan this Friday. At the airport itself, Emraan and the accompanying team – comprising of actress Sonal Chauhan , Mahesh Bhatt and producer Mukesh Bhatt – got a taste of the Lahori welcome.

“I will never forget the love I got from the people at the Lahore airport,” Hashmi is quoted as saying. During his stay in Lahore, many things caught the attention of Emraan’s wandering eye, particularly the “beautiful buildings and the stunning girls” of Lahore. The persistent serial kisser of Bollywood also witnessed immense fan exaltation at the premiere of ‘Jannat’ at the famous Gulistan cinema hall on Tuesday. The number of fans was so large that it caused traffic jam on a nearby road.

The premiere itself was a star-studded gala attended by many Lollywood celebrities. Emraan also offered his prayers at the famous Data Darbar shrine and expressed his wish to lay chador on the shrine of a famous Sufi saint.
