According to the director Kunal Deshmukh the story has been inspired by the floods happened on July 26, 2005. He says, “Yes my forthcoming film is based on Mumbai floods that affected life in Mumbai. I will be shooting it in Mumbai and Cape Town as these two main protagonists’ moves from Cape Town to Mumbai. We are planning to erect a huge set in Mumbai itself to shoot flood portions. Our first schedule will commence in mid-November in Cape Town.”
Speaking about this unusual casting he says, “Yeah. After Jannat once again I wanted to work with Emraan. He is very talented and dedicated actor. While Soha is very apt for this role as she is very close to her character. She was my first choice. Apart from all that Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan haven’t paired before so that’s USP of my film.” He signs off
The Mystery Continues is more than the title of Emraan Hashmi’s latest hit. It could actually be the name of a chapter written on the actor’s growing popularity and astonishing success rate. Considering Emraan has perennially been written off isn’t traditionally a good looker and has largely been avoided by most of Bollywood’s Alit producers, the mystery over his success indeed continues.
Mohit Suri’s Raaz — The Mystery Continues ( Raaz TMC ) has been being declared 2009’ s first hit, raking in over Rs 30 crore in its first week. Opposition from the globally acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire didn’t hamper the horror film’s business. Which opened to initials of 80- 90 per cent all over. While a more hyped venture like the Akshay Kumar starrer Chandni Chowk To China bit the dust earlier this month, the box- office report card of Raaz TMC proves Emraan’s earlier successes, as a solo hero weren’t a fluke. Grandeur is the last thing he seems interested in. Probably, that’s why he has become a star. He approaches a role as an actor. And yet, seeing the response he elicits among the grassroot level, you realize he is legitimately popular.
Emraan himself cuts a stylishly modest picture. “ You can’t discount the contribution others have made to my career,” he says, obviously referring to the fact that his biggest hits — Murder , Gangster , Jannat and Raaz TMC — have been conceived by uncle Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. “ Perhaps viewers love me because I avoid conventional roles.” OF course, A- list Bollywood still doesn’t seem impressed. You don’t find Emraan’s name in a Yashraj, Bhansali or Johar project yet. He continues to be written off despite consecutive blockbusters ( Jannat and Raaz TMC ) in 12 months.Look closely, and Emraan actually has a track record better than many superstars.Out of 17 releases, he has had seven hits, two of which — Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Aksar — have been outside the Bhatt banner.
He never denies the Bhatts’ influence on his success. “ I wouldn’t have been an actor if it wasn’t for Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt. I’ve had my share of flops with them too. But they are family and they gauged my potential. Today, I can safely say that all my films have recovered money — even the flop ones.” Says Mahesh Bhatt. With Emraan, good roles and proper presentation is a must, which we ensure as producers.” But if you say Emraan wouldn’t have been successful if the Bhatt camp wasn’t behind him, Suri counters: “ So many newcomers have been launched and backed by the Bhatts. Think of Kunal Khemu, Shiney Ahuja or Tara Sharma.Getting a good placard to support you is definitely an advantage. Beyond that, you are on your own.” Eyebrows were raised when Emraan hiked his price to Rs 5 crore after Jannat last year.
Is he looking for yet another raise now? “ I belong to a film family and have worked in a production company. I will never quote a figure
that’s unreasonable for the producer,” says Emraan, who is looking forward to Raaz 3 . His next releases meanwhile are the thriller, Raftaar , and Kunal Deshmukh’s romance, Tum Mile. The key to Emraan’s survival could also lie in the fact that he doesn’t always equate success with quality. That is the reason when you ask him of which he thinks is his best performance, Emraan promptly names Awarapan.
He regrets that the film flopped and that he wasn’t accepted as a traumatised hero. He also names Gangster , where he played the ruthless undercover agent who betrays the heroine’s trust to nab her lover, a dreaded gangster. And Anurag Basu’s Murder , where he played an antihero in a steamy romance opposite Mallika Sherawat also remains among his top picks. When it comes to Emraan, it’s always about being out- of- the- box. That has been the key to his success and it explains the curious case of Emraan Hashmi.
The king of hot stifling kisses has admitted that he is frightened to kiss when the camera is running. If you are wondering whether Emraan Hashmi shares any hot kisses with his co-star Kangana in Raaz-2, the answer is no, all the smooch scenes have been taken care of by Adhyayan Suman!
For the second time, actress Kangana Ranaut is set to work with actor Emraan Hashmi ‘Raaz- The Mystery continues‘ is hitting theatres today and it sees Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman playing important characters in the film. Emraan portrays the role of an artist, who is also able to foretell Nandita-the heroine’s future. Kangana plays the role of a model and Adhyayan plays her lover in this horror film that is sure to bind everyone in his or her seats till the last minute.Emraan has revealed that he has always wanted to be part of a horror film and has loved doing his part in ‘Raaz-2‘. The actor is also reported to have slimed down for his role in this flick but does not find the 6-packs or 8-packs very interesting.
‘Raaz-The Mystery Continues’ has been directed by Mohit Suri and is aproduct of Vishesh films. So folks fasten your seatbelts and get ready
for a horror ride with the Raaz team into the depths of the paranormal world.
Recently, on the sets of Mahesh Bhatt’s Raaz 2, the couple Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman made Emraan Hashmi to walk out of the set, by making him wait for two hours. Even if required for the shot, Kangana and Adhyayan remain locked in the vanity van, while Emraan walked out of the set leaving the shoot in between.
A source from the set said, “Kangana and Adhyayan were locked in their vanity van for nearly two hours despite being required for the shot. Initially, Emraan waited for them patiently. Director Mohit Suri tried to save the situation by sending production guys to tap on their vanity van’s door to remind them about their shot. However, the production guys either felt awkward about knocking on the door or were scared of the couple’s reaction and hence chose not to disturb them.”
When Emraan realized that it’s getting longer than a usual, he went out. Mohit was trying to convince him, but Emraan was inevitable and left the set. After nearly two hours when the couple was out from the van, they realized their stupidity and were embarrassed. But it was too late because Emraan was already left.
However, Mahesh Bhatt said, “I don’t get into the trivia about what happens on the sets but I did hear something of this sort from my production team. It was not just Emraan, even producer Mukesh Bhatt and Mohit were miffed. But Adhyayan apologized profusely and that eventually got things back on track.”
A slapdash move by Emraan Hashmi cost the producer of his latest film a lot of money.
In the movie titled ‘Tum Mile’, Emraan is playing a painter once again after ‘Raaz- The Mystery continues’.
The film was being shot in Cape Town, South Africa, when this incident happened.
Reportedly the crew was shooting in the bungalow of painter Jewel Closenberg and many of her expensive paintings were lying around.
In one scene Emraan had to carry a paintbrush and a palette full of colours towards a blank canvas.
Unfortunately however he got careless, stumbled and ended up spilling colour on one of Closenberg’s paintings.
The painter threw a fit when she realized what had happened. Vishesh Films had to buy the spoilt painting and shelled out Rs. 3.5 crores.
The lady was not in a mood to forgive and forget. She firmly said the entire crew that they need not come to shoot in her bungalow again.
The unit was forced to look out for a new bungalow to resume work.
Emraan seems to be going deep into the world of art. Interestingly in ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’, there is a scene where Emraan burns an expensive painting.
“We’re trying for a baby and we should be parents by next year. One is never prepared for fatherhood. And if I wait to be fully prepared, it will never happen. But I’m getting into the mindset now,” told Emraan, who is married to Parveen Shahani.
Discussing about “Raaz 3“, he said: “Yes we’re on,” he also adds, “Mohit Suri will also direct the third part and I’ll play the lead. The rest of the details are yet to be decided. The cast of the second ‘Raaz‘ film was totally new. And I think I’m going to be the only actor common to ‘Raaz 2′ and ’3′.”
“My wife kept telling me I should try the genre. I had never done horror before.” It’s believed in the trade that horror films open well and then soon sputter out. But then it was also believed that a film looking at the seamier side of cricket (‘Jannat’) would never do well.
“I like to walk the lonely path. That’s why you don’t see me at parties and functions. Maybe that’s why I play the part of the loner and watch another guy take away the girl I love,” Emraan said, drawing attention to his loser-lover’s role in “Awarapan” and now “Raaz 2″.
Emraan, who has been lying stumpy during the promotion of “Raaz 2″ thanks to all the focus on real-life pair Kangana-Adhyayan, says he didn’t feel left out.
“Kangana and Adhyayan was a real-life couple. I can’t devise an affair just to be noticed. I was confident my work would speak for itself. Sure enough I believe people clap when I come on screen the first time. I do have fan base, though it might be small,” says <Emraan Hashmi
There is a secret passion that actor Emraan Hashmi subtly kept under squashing till now. There’s no woman in Emraan‘s life other than his lovely wife Praveen. The secret passion we are talking about is Emraan‘s love for paintings.
It was secret till now that Emraan loves to paint in his free time. In fact, the actor is learn to have studied art in his college days and knows the basic techniques in sketching and painting.
However, the talent lay quiescent until Emraan got the role of a painter in Raaz – The Mystery Continues. With some guidance from artist Sailesh Achrekar, Emraan rekindled his keenness and began painting again.
Emraan has so far made a couple of paintings and sketches that he has gifted to his wife Praveen, who found them quite good.
However, Emraan has wowed to hone his skills further and become a more regular artist.
Apart from ‘Raaz – TMC‘, Emraan is also playing a painter in ‘Tum Mile‘.
